Every EA page shows a beautiful equity curve. The honest question is not "does it look good" — it is what numbers, under what conditions, produced this curve. Here is a real example, explained the way we would want to read it.
First: which numbers are marketing
- "300% a month" — compounding at that rate breaks the market itself.
- "100% win rate" — if it never loses, ask why the screenshot is not a bank statement.
- Curves with no axis, no period, no symbol — decoration, not evidence.
A real backtest, numbers on the table
Our flagship configuration (Mode 4) on XAUUSD (gold) H1, backtested from January to September 2026:
- Start $500 → end $5,851 (+1,070%)
- 250 trades, 78.4% win rate, 18.6% max drawdown, profit factor 2.10
- Execution: 100% automated, zero human intervention, trailing stop & take profit
Monthly equity curve of Mode 4, $500 start, gold H1, Jan–Sep 2026. Generated in 100% automated mode with no human intervention.
Why backtest still is not live
- Spreads and slippage change with the session — live fills differ from backtest assumptions.
- Emotional interference is the #1 killer — a good EA destroyed by the human who "optimizes" it mid-way.
- Broker environment — execution quality, quote rejects and server latency are not in the backtest.
That is exactly why we keep testing: this EA has run live for over a year, and high-impact event windows (like central-bank rate decisions) are handled automatically — no one has to remember, react or panic.
Set your expectations where math puts them
- Backtest results are a benchmark of behavior, not a promise of profit.
- Drawdown is part of trading — size positions so the worst month does not break you.
- Automation wins by consistency over time, not by magic per-trade returns.
